Biography: Chris was an inside forward who made over 500 League appearances.But also played Cricket for Leicestershire and Yorkshire and on one occasion batted until 6.30 p.m. in the evening, was then driven away to play soccer for Doncaster Rovers an hour later, returning the next day to complete a century. He later became a qualified cricket umpire! Chris Balderstone died suddenly at his home in Carlisle on March 6th 2000, having suffered from prostate cancer.
