Bannister, Bruce Bruce was a crowd favourite at Bristol Rovers we'd chant his name before the game began as he was warming up the keeper( probably Jim Eadie from memory) and he would always acknowledge us with a wave, he scored a helluva lot of goals for us along with Alan Warboys and the pair we're nicknamed 'smash and grab'. A few years later he and Alan Warboys were playing for Hull City and it was the last game of the season Hull at home to Rovers and the loser was relegated. Warboys wasnt playing but Bruce came over to the away supporters as we were chanting his name and waved to us. We won 1-0 and that was the last i heard of him. When my friends here in Australia ask me who my favourite player is they look at me baffled,,,,who??? but i dont care.
