Canvin, Cyril Cyril was mostly a reserve team player at Leyton Orient 1947-48 and quickly earned a reputation for his robust approach. He was put into the league side for a couple of matches late in the prolonged season, 1946-47, when the club was desperately seeking to avoid relegation and needed punch in the forward line. I never saw him in any of the two-to-three matches he played in. But the Orient just managed to avoid the drop. He was retained for 1947-48 but never played in the League side again. I vaguely remember reading that he had been killed only 5 or 6 years later in a motoring accident.
