Deakin, Alan Alan was also a talented cricketer and good athlete. He was approached by Warwickshire CC same time as Villa. He knew Pete and friends via Sunday amateur cricket club. We spent many happy Sundays with them.

Deakin, Alan Thanks for your reply. I never did know how Pete and Betty knew so many villa player, Alan included of course. You can imagine how wonderful it was for me, being an avid Villa supporter to be in the same company. Did you just know them personally, with nothing to do with football? I was asked by a friend who lived very close to them. I worked for a bacon importers in Mary street. Amatt &co. The owner was Martin Ammat. I was 18 then.

Deakin, Alan I went to Mary Street school with Alan and his younger brother. Both good players. Alan was outstanding

Deakin, Alan Deakin, Alan. Yes, we were at Pete and Betty’s parties in 1962. Thank you for the compliment, Richard. Alan was a brilliant footballer - and much loved by his family. RD

Deakin, Alan I knew Alan. He used to come to parties at a friends house in Dark Lane Hollywood south Birmingham. He had a very attractive girl friend I recall. This would have been around 1962.

Deakin, Alan Roy Hi I was raised in the same Street as Alan and at the same time. But did't get to know him, we were up our 'own end' as they use to say. However now I'm a volunteer with Balsall Heath History Society and we are putting together a booklet of 'Stars of Balsall heath`. I have the (nice) job of researching Alan, his career and his connections to BH. The person above who went to school with Alan I would like to hear from, also the guy with the trophy - a family member?
I'm Jim on 07900 624570.

Deakin, Alan I was at the same school as Alan. Mary Street, Balsall Heath. When he left in 1953, the school struck a special trophy for him as the greatest sportsman the school had ever known. He excelled not only in Soccer but at cricket & athletics. If the school had played Rugby, no doubt he would have been an outstanding player in that sport too!

Deakin, Alan I have this trophy at home, very proud of him. Tried to follow in his foot steps but it isn't as easy as it seems
