John Devine

Born: 1958

Birthplace: Dublin, Republic of Ireland

Position: Right-back/Midfielder

Biography: A badly broken leg terminated his career whilst playing for Stoke. He recovered sufficiently to play in non-league soccer and had a spell at Chelmsford before venturing east to play for East Bengal in India. Now closer to home in Ireland, and was married to the 1980 Miss Ireland and Miss Universe runner up, Michelle Rocca. He became a coach and then caretaker manager at Shelbourne after in November 1994. Shelbourne's close ties with Manchester United led to Devine working with the English club, and he has been United's head of youth development in Ireland since 1997. (FA Cup Finalist in 1980)

Devine, John I too was an apprentice at Arsenal with John in the mid 70's. Great lad. In fact all the Irish boys were good lads.

Devine, John I was an apprentice with John at Arsenal we lost touch because I became homesick but remember john borrowing my homemade guitar amp and guitar as he was interested in playing, along with Frank Stapleton. Nice to see he has done ok for himself. Nice guy.
