Birthplace: Glasgow, Scotland

Position: Right-half

Biography: As a player 'The Doc' won 25 Scottish caps and played over 400 league games following his ?4,000 move to Preston from Celtic in 1949. Became Player/coach at Chelsea in 1961, and their manager in 1962. A full and colourful management career then took in stops at: Rotherham ; QPR (twice); Aston Villa; FC Oporto (Portugal); Hull; Scotland national side; Manchester Unitedtd; Derby County; Sydney Olympic (Australia) (twice); Preston ; South Melbourne FC (Australia); Wolverhampton Wanderers. Now uses all this experience to entertain as an after dinner speaker. (Division Two championship medal with Preston in 1951)
