Foggon, Alan Played against Alan at school Jarrow Hebburn and Felling boys v Stanley at Reyrooles,got,beat,7-3 Alan was a bit special
Next, time I caught up with him was at Newcastle United we reported for training and were told to get straight up to Hunters Moor,to,play with some medallists, on the say we chatted I said that I had just signed as an amateur and he said that he was signing as an apprentice pro the next morning.
Not long before he was in the first team, a really decent player then, I have met him since and a very unassuming bloke

Foggon, Alan First played against Fog at schoolboy level, Gateshead v West Stanley when he was the biggest and strongest lad on the pitch. We both played for Durham County Schoolboys, both joined Newcastle on schoolboy forms. His strength and goal scoring got him into the first team whilst still a teenager and he had a successful career whilst I drifted into non league after spells at Rotherham and Doncaster Rovers and pursued my career. A great lad with a great sense of humour, bumped into him a couple of times by chance and reminisced a bit of earlier times. A Fairs Cup hero for the Toon, Alan has the memories to treasure, but I have a great pension scheme!
