Biography: The signing of the Scottish international was supposed to signal the start of a new era at Stamford Bridge. An aggressive midfielder, he moved south for £225,000 after falling out with Celtic. His time in 5W6 was hindered by operations on his eyes and knees but he did go on and become the cornerstone of the 1976-77 promotion charge. Retired through injury in 1979 and was appointed assistant manager at Motherwell in the November and Manager in September 1981. Managed his old club, Celtic then became Chief Scout. Has twice managed Livingstone as well as a stint at Dunfermline. Now works in the media.
