Irwin, Colin Does Colin Irwin know that he is eligible for a backdated Football League Division One Championship winners medal for the 1979-80 season?
Following a change in the rules the number of appearances required is now five. Colin made eight league appearances (7 starts and 1 sub) and along with another nine former Liverpool players he should now get another medal for his collection.
Former players from Tottenham, Derby and Wolves have received league medals already and two other clubs will follow shortly. Can you contact him please.

Irwin, Colin As a Liverpool supporter since the Shankly era, I took special interest in Colin’s time at Anfield because of our shared surname. As an Ulsterman his links to QUB and the peace process are a revelation! Very interesting gentleman. Would love to have met him.

Irwin, Colin Colin was a very good player with Swansea City in the early 80's. Great reader of the game and played a big part in Swansea's first season in division one. Nice guy too,met him a couple of times in the Bay View having a drink with his Swansea team mates. Always had time to chat.

Colin Irwin Watching old clips of Liverpool's great games during the Coronavirus lockdown, I was reminded of Colin when he played in what I still think of as one of LFC's greatest away victories. This was the semi-final of the European Cup in Munich in 1981 when Liverpool achieved a 1 -1 draw after drawing the first leg 0-0 at Anfield and went to the final on the basis of Ray Kennedy's away goal. Before Germany and through the game itself Liverpool sustained many injuries, Colin was a hero that night for sheer grit in seeing the game through.
