Biography: A Danish international winger, born in Copenhagen, Olsen arrived at Old Trafford via Amsterdam where he had been a star with Ajax. Ron Atkinson spotted his potential, paying around £700,000 to bring him to England. On his day, Olsen was magnificent. He played in the 1985 FA Cup final against Everton but lacked consistency, and struggled to adapt to English football. His fortunes improved under Sir Alex Ferguson but he didn't last and was sold to Bordeaux for £400,000 in November 1988. After his playing days, which had earned him 40 international caps, the Dane has kept a fairly low profile since retiring. Lived in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, and ran a sports management company with Kevin Moran before moving to Australia where he lives in Brighton, Victoria. Suffered a brain haemorrhage in 2006 and was taken to hospital but has since made a good recovery and is now an assistant coach for Melbourne Heart in the Australian 'A' League.
