Biography: Micky Quinn used to joke that he was the fastest player in the league over one yard. It is true that he may not have been quick but he certainly had any eye for goal. He hit the target 68 times in five years for Pompey and was top scorer when the team won promotion to the First Division in 1987. During his playing days he picked up a number of nicknames including 'Sumo' due to his slightly overweight (!) frame and the crowd chant of 'who ate all the pies?' was later used as the title for his autobiography. Once retired from football, Quinn became a race horse trainer He now has stables at Newmarket, Suffolk and can be heard on TalkSport radio commenting on both sports. Player of the season in 1989.
