Albert Quixall

Clubs played for: Sheffield Wednesday, Manchester United, Oldham Athletic, Stockport County. (1950-1966).

He enjoyed some success at Old Trafford, winning the FA Cup in 1963 before leaving 12 months later for Oldham in an £8,500 deal, after a being troubled by injury. A full England international, one time golden boy of English football became a scrap dealer in the Manchester area where he now lives in retirement.

Quixall, Albert I was at the Ipswich game when Albert scored 3 and we won 5-0. The weather had been poor and we were given little slips of paper in case the match was called off. The pitch was heavy, but Albert made light of it, he wore number 9 that day and everything went through him, as good as di Stefano.

Quixall, Albert I asked on this site 2 years ago of the whereabouts of Albert. I spoke with the residential home where he was as I wanted to get Albert and my father whom he and Albert grew up and played football together in school boy days at Chaucer school to see each other before they went to heaven. My dad died one year ago and now I know that they will be passing that heavy leather football around as they did in training in greaves park. Both had dementia. Albert, Ron is up there waiting for you. RIP ALBERT.

Quixall, Albert My uncle was a big friend of Matt Busby and knew all the players. He brought Albert to our house not long after he signed for United and we had a kick around in the street. He was like a young version of David Beckham , the blond idol of Man United ....

Quixall, Albert Sad to hear of Albert’s death and that he had dementia. Watched him many times at Old Trafford and away games back in the late 50’s until he moved on.
Remember him going into a scrap metal business with Freddie Pye after he retired. They had a big scrapyard on Moss Lane East.
