Rankin, Andy In 1978/79 as a 13/14 lad a group of us would go to Shendish in Hemel Hempstead to watch Watford train.

My mum sent me with sandwiches and a bottle of drink which I would give to Andy!

Great memories

Life was different and more enjoyable then, for sure.

Rankin, Andy I was a mate of his brother Dave. I remember one day going to Crosby baths with Dave. Andy and Alsn Whittle were there. We lived on the Captain Lane estate in Bootle.

Rankin, Andy I remember Andy playing in goal at Watford way back. He was a great keeper and the fans loved him. I still sing the song to myself to this day, Andy, Andy Rankin, clap clap. So glad to hear he was made to feel welcome in Watford, which is still a lovely place to live to this day. Cheers Andy!

Rankin, Andy The day I met Andy, I was as a young Everton fan at the time, he was brought to my house by a friend of ours for a visit, as it was a nice warm day they sat in our back garden for a little drink, he was polite and chatty, a day I will not forget in a hurry.

Rankin, Andy As a young boy I wanted to be a goalkeeper and watched Villa first and reserve games every week. I would also get autographs and one reserves game (night game) I meet him and he was very nice and will always remember him. Many years later I played professional (striker) and ended up playing in the National League in Australia and had a great mate called Alan Ball who often came to Aussie and stay with us. I told him the story and Alan remembered him fondly Also, got to meet Mike Trebilcock who lives here too but never got to mention my story. Thanks Andy

RANKIN, Andy Andy became our player/ coach at Shepley Dynamoes Sunday football team. We were in the 5th division and we played Paddock Combos from the first division in a cup match. We beat them 1-0 with Andy in goal. When they had a corner, he made all the defence stand outside the area so we wouldn't get in his way!
