Shilton, Peter My name is Brendan. I was born in 1984, the first World Cup I remember watching is 1990. Even at that age, I wanted to be a goal keeper, (the same position my dad had played in for the Fulham reserves). On Comic Relief day of the same year, (wearing my own clothes to school for charity) I obviously wore my yellow with black elbow patches 1990 England goal keeper shirt with 'Shilton' (my hero) emblazoned on the back of my shirt. While walking home from school with my older brother, I darted across a main road and was hit head on by a recovery truck. The truck driver unbeknownst to me saved my life by braking so early. Never the less, I was seriously injured and upon arrival at A&E, the medical team attempted to gain access to my chest by cutting my England goal keeper shirt but (I don’t remember this, but have been told by my parents) I wouldn’t allow them to cut my shirt. My dad had to promise to buy me a new shirt with Shilton on the back. I’m glad to say I left hospital 10 days later and made a full recovery thanks to the Ealing hospital medical team. I also received my New England goal keeper shirt with Shilton on the back of it!

Shilton, Peter I was always Peter Shilton when we got home after the game!. I entered a raffle to win a yellow LCFC shirt at a small village show in Earl Shilton. He turned up to show it off for all of us to see. I never won it but what a man. Never seen a sportsman train to hard. Glad life is good for him now.
