Biography: Aston Villa bought Jimmy MacEwan in 1959. He helped Villa win the Football League Division Two championship in his first season for promotion to England's top flight. At the club he scored 32 goals in 181 games, and also won the inaugural League Cup in 1960/61. He left Villa in 1966 to play that season for Walsall. He then joined the coaching staff at Fellows Park remaining there until 1973. He worked at Ansell’s Brewery and worked at the Social Security Offices in Handsworth. He played football for the Villa Old Stars into his 50s until forced to stop due to knee replacement operations. He died in 2017 aged 88 due to heart failure.
