Merrick, Gil Gil used to be a regular with his wife at an Italian restaurant I worked at in solihull, really really nice guy and was sadly missed when he passed away.

Merrick, Gil I recall going to the Co-op on Bull St in Brum to buy a cup final programme in 1956 and Gil handed it to me. He seemed to tower above me. I wasn't able to go to the final although I went to St Andrews a lot. Gil was a personal favourite and always struck me as a calm sort of chap. A friend of mine went to Greenmore College on Pershore Road and said that Gil Merrick was their football coach. How lucky my friend was!
