Graham Moore

Graham Moore

Clubs played for: Cardiff City, Chelsea, Manchester United, Northampton Town, Charlton Athletic, Doncaster Rovers. (1958-1973).

Born: 1941

Birthplace: Hengoed, Wales

Position: Midfielder

Biography: Signed as a 20 year old by Tommy Docherty for a club record £35,000 in December 1961 from financially stricken Cardiff City as he looked to breath some life in into a campaign which ended in relegation with Moore netting only twice. The club bounced back at the first attempt but he still found the target hard to find, only chipping in with eight goals. With Barry Bridges and Bobby Tambling becoming the preferred partnership, patience was soon lost and he was sold to Manchester United for the same amount as the club had originally paid out. The Welsh international midfielder was a miner at Penallta Colliery before turning professional but went on to run a couple of pubs when he left the game. Later became a sub post office in Scarborough until retiring.

Moore, Graham When I was a small boy I sometimes carried Graham's boots from Cardiff Central station. Great memories. Also gave me a few tickets for games but what a gentleman. God bless you Graham.

Moore, Graham I grew up in South Wales and played basketball for Abertridwr YMCA. Our fixture list always featured Bargoed YMCA who often had Graham as a member of their team, albeit that basketball was viewed by him as another way of maintaining his physical fitness. Whilst his prowess in this sport was not quite up to 'Michael Jordan standards' his conduct and sense of sportsmanship were impeccable. In addition, my early days as a Cardiff City supporter were much enriched by his presence in our midfield. R.I.P. and thanks for the memories Graham.

Moore, Graham When Graham and his family moved to Northampton I used to babysit for him and his wife, Rita. On his move to Charlton I used to baby sit for them there too and my endearing memory is that they had only just moved into their new (club) house and discovered they had a mouse. Graham jumped on to their kitchen table, hammer in hand, but left me (aged 17) and his wife to deal with the mouse! Lovely man, such a sad loss.
