Biography: A powerful Centre-half, who just like his namesake Stan, hailed from Reading. Became a first team regular at the age of 19, partnering David Hay in place of John Dempsey and Mickey Droy. A member of the 1976-1977 promotion winning team, he left for Derby County shortly after the victory. He then returned to Stamford Bridge seven years later for a record £470,000 fee, but after three games, John Hollins reverted to the Joe McLaughlin/ Colin Pates partnership. He attempted to battle back from a serious back injury and was on the verge of a move to Spurs, when he announced his retirement and received £262,000 compensation. Had a spell as assistant manager of Portsmouth, then went onto manage Scarborough and Lincoln City, had lucrative spells in Malaysia and Singapore. Became a player's agent but now works in corporate hospitality at Queens Park Rangers' Loftus Road and has invested in property

Wicks, Steve Steve used to copy my answers during our maths class at Ryeish Green School so that he could escape from school early to attend his training sessions at Chelsea football academy, or was that just his excuse. All such a long time ago.
