Biography: Attended Southern Grammar School and had thought about becoming a P.E. teacher before being offered the chance to join Pompey. Signed a professional contract in 1974 and became one of the club's most loyal and popular servants. A ten year career saw him play in a variety of positions and for six different managers. The club was relegated twice and also promoted back up to the Third and then Second Division with Ellis in the side. Hung up his boots after spells with Southend United and Havant. Later became a deep sea diver but now works as a fireman based at Southsea Fire Station.
