Biography: 'Pav' originally signed for Huddersfiled on loan from Preston North End during the latter half of the 2003-04 season. Three goals in his first three games persuaded Peter Jackson to sign him permanently for £125,000. Abbott's goals helped the promotion push and he was part of the side that won the 2004 Division Three Play-off Final against Mansfield Town. He also scored 26 goals the following season, which saw Town miss out on the playoffs by just one point. He was sold to Swansea City in 2007 having fallen out of favour with 'Jacko' but lasted less than a year at the Welsh club before being sold to Darlington. Spells at Oldham Athletic and Charlton Athletic followed before moving to Poland to play for a number of clubs. Although born in York, Pawel's mother was Polish and he did play one match for their Under 21 side. Stomil Olsztyn were his most recent employers but he left the club in 2018 and is currently a free agent.
