Biography: The 'Yak' just loved scoring goals. His bustling style unsettled defences and earned him several big money moves during his career: £7.5m from Portsmouth to Middlesbrough in 2005 and £11.25 from Boro to Everton in August 2007. It was Pompey and Harry Redknapp who had initially brought him over to England - his transfer from Maccabi Haifa was clouded in suspicion and was subsequently investigated by the Stevens Commission. Despite this, he made an immediate impact, scoring 4 minutes into his full debut. This and his other goals that season helped Pompey gain promotion to the Championship (then known as the First Division). When he retired in 2007, the Nigerian international and has scored more premiership goals than any other African player. This is all a far cry from his childhood in Benin where he used to play barefoot in the streets until his brother gave him a pair of boots at the age of 12. His LinkedIn profile shows him as 'Yak22 Football agent management' and living in Barnet.
