Birthplace: Birdholme

Position: Centre-forward/inside-left

Biography: A forward born in Birdholme in 1905 who scored an impressive 71 goals in just 128 League games. Although Bacon's career didn't really take off at either Derby or Manchester City (scoring just once in 5 appearances), he still holds a Reading record for scoring six goals in one game. Sadly whilst serving as a special constable in Derby during World War Two, Bacon was killed during an air raid in July 1942.
