Biography: Midfielder Born 2 September 1982 in Huyton, Merseyside, Came through the ranks at Manchester City making 130 league appearances and collected his one England cap before transferring to Newcastle, He is currently captain of Queens Park Rangers. Always a controversial figure he has been involved in numerous both on and off the field. In December 2004 he was fined six weeks' wages after he stubbed a cigar into the eye of a younger team-mate at the club's Christmas party. He served 77 days of a six month sentence for common assault and was also charged by the FA for an assault on his Manchester City teammate Ousmane Dabo. For which he also received a four month suspended sentence and was banned for six games and fined £25,000 with a further six game ban suspended for two years.
