Jim Baxter

Born: 1939

Birthplace: Hill of Beath, Scotland

Position: Left Midfielder

Biography: Played for Scotland at Under 23 level and 43 times for the full national team. Started his career at Raith Rovers, then Rangers. Moved south to Sunderland in 1965 for £85,000 and then on to Nottingham Forest in 1967 before finishing his career back at Rangers. Retired in 1970 and became a publican in his native Glasgow. He died on 14th April 2001 at the age of 61. (Completed the double and treble with Rangers in successive years 1963 and 1964)

Baxter, Jim Came to Wolseley Street School Glasgow in 1970 to present our football team with the cup we had just one. An absolute icon and a gentleman idolised by Ferenc Puskas, Alfredo Di Stefanie and me!
