Birthplace: Hexham, Northumberland

Position: Forward/midfielder

Biography: Forward born 18 January 1961 in Long Benton, scored 237 goals in 756 League appearance in a career that started and ended with Newcastle United, released as a youngster only to return twice as a player and then reserve team manager and as caretaker boss in 2010. Beardsley also earned 59 England caps scoring 9 goals and even spent a short time as assistant manager to Howard Wilkinson. He is currently Newcastle's Football Development Manager

Beardsley, Peter I had the pleasure playing with Peter at Carlisle in the reserves and I have followed him ever since. Last time I spoke to him was at the opening of Cockermouth school sports field.
