Biography: The first Irish keeper in United's history to play a league game when he appeared against Bury at Old Trafford in March 1934, he conceded a goal in the first minute. It turned out to be his only game for the club after the signing of former England keeper, Jack Hacking, and he returned to Shelbourne. He lived in Dublin and worked as United's scout in the Republic of Ireland discovering Johnny Carey, Billy Whelan, Johnny Giles, Kevin Moran, Gerry Daly and Paul McGrath among others. He retired in 1987, four years before his death in November 1991, aged 80.
