Biography: Southampton born full back who signed for Saints in 1985 and worked his way through the ranks to play over 300 games scoring just one goal in 1997. A no nonsense defender who was sent off 11 times during his Southampton career, A one club servant excepting a three month loan at Nottingham Forest, which continued beyond his playing days joining the coaching staff at St. Mary's after a spell playing for Eastleigh and took charge of the under-12 side. He is a partner in a property development company - Luken Homes - with his father-in-law. The company was set up in 2002 and is named after Benali's children, Luke and Kenzie. He also held stakes in an Indian restaurant in Southampton called "Kuti's Brasserie". Since retiring from full-time football has become patron of a Saints community programme, The Children's Fire and Burn Trust and The Dave Wellman Cancer Trust As well as being a coach at Southampton, Benali co-owns a property development company called Luken Homes with his father in law. He also held stakes in an Indian restaurant in Southampton called Kuti's Brasserie.
