Biography: Barnsley paid Glentoran £6,500 in April 1949 to bring Danny across the water, and to launch a glittering career. He won the Player of the Year award twice, (1957 and 1961). retired in 1963/4 for a new career in journalism, which he maintained until his death in Chobham, Surrey in December 1993, having suffered from Altzheimers disease. (Skippered Spurs through their glory years, winning many honours including the famous double in 1960/1)
