Position: Central defender

Biography: A big strong central defender he played in the Football League between 1967-83. He is best remembered at Middlesbrough where he played between 1971-79 making 322 league appearances. He made a total of 582 appearances in the league for all his clubs. When his playing career finished he worked for twelve years at Kodak then bought a newsagents where he lived in Kirkby In Ashfield. He had this for ten years before retiring. He still goes to some Middlesbrough games.

Boam, Stuart As a young Mansfield Town supporter, Stuart was the first player I watched warm up at my first ever game v Southend, FA Cup 1969. He was doing tricks with the ball and really impressed me. In the following round, Mansfield beat West Ham 3-0 and Stuart played an important part in the victory.

Boam, Stuart Stuart was probably the best uncapped English player at his time at Middlesbrough. I was 10 years old then. We were one of the better teams in the country thanks to BIG JACK and the players. Best Boro team ever for me.

Boam, Stuart My Australian wife and i lived on the Acklam Hall Estate, first in Kepwick Close then Cranswick Drive. When you looked out of our front door in Kepwick Close it overlooked Stuart's back garden. We were given tickets to see the matches at Ayresome Park on several occasions. We left to come to Australia in 1973. We went to seem them play at Perry Park on Sunday May 11th 1975. After the match we went to meet the team at the Tower Mill Hotel, Wickham Terrace, Brisbane. I would appreciate it if this could be passed onto Stuart. From Michael and Dorn Sullivan.
