Bond, Ernie We met Ernie and his friend from Freckleton at Grannies Bay, Lytham and we spent a good 30:minutes listening to Ernie’s stories about his time at Leyland Motors, then Manchester United before moving on to Carlisle then QofS. He was in good health and good spirits and was a delight to speak with. I do hope we meet again, it was a lovely interlude.

PS I asked him the obvious question who was the best manager Busby or Ferguson? It had to be Busby who Ernie thought was a great manager and man.

Bond, Ernie Met Ernie today whilst walking in Lytham. Such a gent talked to us about his football career hence I came home to Google him. Such a lovely interesting man we tried to persuade him to write about his football memories.

Bond, Ernie Ernie Bond and I are cousins. My father George and his father Ernest were brothers. I remember going to Ernie’s wedding, somewhere in Preston I think ,with my Mum and Dad. I was only about 11. I live in Horwich, as all the Bonds family did at one time. I didn’t realise Ernie had returned to Preston. It would be nice to see and speak to him.

Margaret Goodwin Met this gentleman in a pub in Freckleton while having a meal, had a lovely chat to him, could have spent hours talking to him about his time with Preston North End and Manchester United, told him to write a book and if he does I would certainly buy it.
