Biography: Frank was only cleared to play for United by the FA after it emerged he had signed amateur forms with Aston Villa. He started his only season as full back but lost his place after six games to Charlie Retford and left, ironically, for Villa Park at the end of his only season at the club. He settled in Sussex running a coal merchants business in Hove before opening a bookmakers with his former Brighton team mate, Ernie Wilson, He lived in Chichester in retirement and died in July 1988, aged 89.
