Biography: Bill Brown had earned a reputation as a deadly striker in non-league football and had scored 33 goals in 100 odd games for Gillingham. Unfortunately the 6ft 2in striker failed to replicate this success in his time at Fratton Park and he quickly moved on to Brentford. An Ankle injury ended his career and he went back to work on the family's pig farm. He later bought a lorry and also started his own conservatory company.
