Carlton, Dave I was at Morpeth School in same year as David. We both played for school and East London although David was always a regular at the East London level I was usually the no2 goalkeeper in the squad. David was a nice person and was naturally gifted at both football and cricket. I recall one cricket match where everyone else on the Morpeth team was being bowled out. I just blocked out one end for as long as I could against some good fast bowling, while David was smashing the bowling everywhere. David carried his bat through the rest of the innings. Regarding football, he was clearly a talented midfielder and, of all the gifted players we had at Morpeth that year (we won numerous trophies) I believe he was the only one I know who actually ended up with a measure of professional success. I guess he had the right temperament to go with his talent. Ian Morris.

Carlton, Dave Remember young David very well, always playing football in the grounds below his family flat. Remember his mum and dad and the James boys. Think he now lives around Northampton way, into golf. Remember Barry Silkman before he made a name for himself. Great days, we were fortunate to be poor enough to mix with everyone and had great childhoods.

Carlton, Dave Just saw the above Vince O’Kane passed away. Not seen him in many many years but played with him and Carlo (David Carlton). Carlo and I also played in the same Fulham youth team. He was both footed and really skillful. Yet his best asset was he bowled a fantastic googly in cricket. Some fantastic memories from a long time ago . Gutted about Vince. Used to see him greyhound racing 30-35 years ago. Where does time go?

Carlton, Dave Went school with him. He was a year below me. We also went to Brady club and played football there. I think he lived in a tower block near Hanbury Street. I also think he played off East London school which won school cup for England. Also he played with Vincent Ocain, who I found out just passed away.
