Willie and his family were our next door neighbours in Plantation Street Glasgow. I was to young but my droppers and sister, Pat, Jim and Sadie often talk about him and Walter.
I used to live in wootton paddock opposite Ted and liz edgar in leek wootton I used to watch willie car playing football in his front garden with his young son when knocking about with my mates. Great player.
I went to St Bedes RC School in Cambridge and remember the great excitement amongst my classmates when we were told a new pupil due to arrive next term was a Scottish International Schoolboy Footballer.
I used to ride my bike with Willy to and from school most days and was one of the lucky few pupils chosen to go to Coventry City FC to witness our school friend sign his contract. We had lunch in a local Hotel with Jimmy Hill then went to the game afterwards and had VIP seats. As we walked along the line to our seats people in the crowd kept asking us who we were and we told them we were the England Schoolboy National Team.
Willie now lives in Shropshire I am wondering which of our many cousins is inquiring.
I worked at the Coventry Economic Building Society in 1970. I got Willie his mortgage!! Great fella. He got me 2 tickets for the infamous Donkey Kick Everton game!!! (I'm an Everton fan)!!
Always a joy to watch Willie play. 100% effort every time he took the field, and will always be remembered as one of the finest players to wear the Sky Blue of Coventry City.
He's my cousin would like to know where he is.
