Chapman, Bob 'Sammy' He ran our village pub in Sutton Bonington in the mid 80s. Such a lovely chap. Also Phil Starbark was at school with me and he dated Sammy's daughter for a while. wonderful times.

Chapman, Bob 'Sammy' Always remember sammy towards the end of his career playing for shrewsbury. Fantastic midfield player never wasted a ball always found his man with a pass. And very hard to get the ball from tremendous player!

Chapman, Bob 'Sammy' Literally the hardest football player I have ever seen. The night forest played orient to win the Anglo Scottish cup final he chased Allan whittle the full length of the pitch only to burst out laughing when he caught him. Whittle shit himself!!!

Chapman, Bob 'Sammy' often met him in nottingham on a saturday night after arriving home from away games with bill brindley for a few pints. what a laugh he was. one of his sayings said in a brummie accent was " pie peas and chips and lots of luschous gravy"

Chapman, Bob 'Sammy' Oldham (A) in the 2nd division, 1976 I think. Forest go 2-0 down after bossing the game. Alan Groves an occasionally skilful winger had scored the second. A couple of minutes later he gets the ball and goes past his opposite winger near the touchline and well short of the Forest penalty area. Sammy as had enough, and sprints from centre half and BOOM, Groves smashes off the pitch into the advertising boards. Ref runs over and decides perhaps he had better just book Sammy. Classic.
A couple of years later Groves dies aged 29 of heart failure.

Chapman, Bob 'Sammy' One of the Trent End's all-time favourites, Sam didn't get pushed around as a forward and certainly didn't take prisoners as a defender. 'Sammy, Sammy, we'd walk a million miles for one of your smiles our Sammy' is the song the Trent End sang when the Reds ran out and Sammy would always give us one of those smiles every time. He could mix it with the toughest players in the game in the 60s and 70s and you had to be tough in those days. Played his heart out for Forest always gave 100%. A true Forest legend SUPER SAM.

Chapman, Bob Hard as nails no nonsense CH!! The song used to go 'Six Foot two eyes are blue Sammy Chapmans after you!!! Left just b4 the glory years!! Shame!! Deserved more out the game!!
