Biography: Signed on at United as a trainee in 2001 and progressed through the youth teams, and in 2002-2003, was named Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year after helping United to an FA Youth Cup Final win over Middlesbrough. A week later he played a reserve team game against the same opposition and suffered a break to his leg. In 2006, he was released by United after failing to play a first team game. After spells in New Zealand, he was forced to quit the game as a result of the injuries received and after launching a legal action, he was awarded an initial £4.2 million in compensation. Is now studying English at Leeds University
