Digby, Derek Derek arrived at St.Luke’s Teacher Training, Exeter in September 1959, to start his training as a teacher. My room mate Philip Moore and myself were members of the St Luke’s First Team and aware of Dereks experience managed to persuade him to start playing again. We had an enjoyable season together , including his fine company on away matches . A fine friend ,footballer and team mate. . Philip and myself finished our course after the 1959-60 season and moved into teaching .Derek continued to play for St Luke’s until his course ended.
