Dorney, Alan I remember him at secondary school, CFS in Cowper St. he was in my year but not my class (I think his house colour was yellow). I followed his progress at Millwall from afar.

Dorney, Alan I loved watching Alan play for Millwall and I couldn’t believe it when he came to my club (Long Lane JFC) with his son. Such an unassuming man he said “please don’t tell everyone that I was a professional footballer. Great player and a lovely man

Dorney, Alan He was my favourite and I was so upset when Gordon Jago dropped him. Mr Consistency. He was just always there. That back line were like my Knights Of Avalon. I was there for his only ever goal, against Bristol City. I briefly saw Alan in 1999 at Wembley for Millwall v. Wigan. He was too quick for me. I would have loved to ask him about that goal.

Dorney, Alan I played with Alan for Millwall's youth team. He was a lovely lad and seemed to think I had a bigger chance of making it than him, as he said on the coach to an away game once. But, as you know, he stuck at it and became very popular at The Den, along with Alan Kitchener, who played in the same youth team. I became a journalist but spent two happy season in the Finnish Premier Division with a team called VPS.
Hope Alan is well and as happy in ld age as I am. Best wishes to him and his family.

Dorney, Alan I sat next to Alan at Alma JM&I School in Bermondsey. Alan was not too good at spelling, and would drop his 'H' in speech. One day, Mr Murphy, the headmaster, cut out a cardboard capital H and flung it out the window, saying to Alan that as he had dropped the H, he'd better retrieve it. It was a while before Alan returned, explaining that it had caught on the scaffolding where the school was being renovated at the time. Alan had tried to climb up, but a builder noticed him, eventually reached the H, and passed it down to a relieved Alan!

Dorney, Alan A quality defender who come through the ranks at the Old Den and formed a great central defensive partnership with Kitch in the 1971/72 promotion push. One of the Millwall greats.
