Biography: Bradford Park Avenue, Manchester United, Luton Town, Hull City, Mansfield Town, Darlington. Another scorer of important goals, John was snapped up from Bradford Park Avenue for a club record £18,000 in 1949 as a direct replacement for Johnny Morris. Once he had played a major part in the winning of the 1951-1952 League title by scoring 11 goals in 33 matches, after missing out narrowly in 1949 and 1951. He moved to Luton Town in a £10,000 deal. Worked as a newsagent in Bradford and now lives in Tynemouth in the North East.
