George Eastham OBE

Birthplace: Blackpool, Lancashire

Position: nside forward/Midfielder

Biography: Created history when he took his club, Newcastle to court in 1961 when they refused to let him leave - thus the freedom of contract clause was introduced. Became manager at Stoke City. Awarded the O.B.E. in 1975. Emigrated to Johannesburg, to run his own sportswear business and retained links with the UK as Vice President of the Arsenal Supporters Club in South Africa!( League Cup winners medal in 1972)

Eastham OBE, George Hi George. I played with you at football in the Blackpool Primary Boys which you captained. Also Rugby at Arnold school in Blackpool. You lived on St Anne’s Rd and I still live in Blackpool. Take care George.
