Biography: Paul was Chelsea's Player of the Year and had formed a solid partnership with Ken Monkou when, in 1992, aged 28, his career was ended as a result of a tackle from Liverpool's Dean Saunders. He lost a subsequent court case, and faced court costs of around £500,000. Became a T.V. pundit, worked in Chelsea's sponsorship department, became an advisor to the Equality and Human Rights Commission, and was a member of the FA's bid for the 2018 World Cup. His work with youngsters and active campaigning against racism in the game was rewarded in 2003, when he was awarded the MBE.
