Biography: Initially signed on loan by John Hollins in March 1986 when Eddie Niedzwiecki was injured and Steve Francis lost form. He performed well enough to be signed permanently at the start of next season and within weeks, enjoyed the highlight of his stay, saving two penalties in front of the Stretford End to help earn a 1-0 win over Manchester United. Injuries and illness prevented progress and when Roger Freestone was signed, Godden never regained his first team slot. Went on to play for three more clubs before turning his hand to coaching keepers for a living. Has served as coach to a number of League clubs has also managed non-league Kings Lynn FC. Is now on Brighton's coaching staff.
