David Gregory

David Gregory

Clubs played for: Ipswich Town, Hereford United, Peterborough United, Colchester United. (1997-2002)

Born: 1951

Birthplace: Peterborough

Position: Forward

Biography: Frank Burrows paid Bury £100,000 to add Gregory to his Pompey side which was fighting to get out of the Fourth Division. He made an immediate impact, scoring three goals in his first four games, but the goals dried up and it was with some relief that promotion was finally achieved on goal difference. The following season saw him play in 42 matches and score 12 goals. A change of manager in 1981 led to Bobby Campbell shuffling the team and Gregory was allowed to leave. He joined Wrexham but ended his career where it started, back in Peterborough. He now lives in Lincolnshire and works as a self employed ceramic tiler.
