Grimes, Ashley A picture of me with Ashley in the Executive suite at Old Trafford is a treasured posession. Strange thing is If I show the pictures everyone names Ashley? never Gordon Hill, McQueen or Joe Jordan but they all remember Ashley.

Grimes, Ashley Standing on the sea which was the Stretford End of yore, Chelsea in the Cup, dull game, ball comes out to Ashley Griimes on the edge of the box. We'd all seen him hit a few corner flags, Row ZZs, roof of the ground from there. One of the crowd shouted out really loud, in a lull. 'Ave a dig, Ashley!'
Ashley Grimes seemed to look up to the stands, bewildered. And then he put his laces through it! A belter, a screamer, a scorcher, Top corner! But a whole section of the Stretty just collapsed with laughter.
He wasn't the best player ever to play at the club. But he seemed a good lad, a hard worker. And he gave us a lot of fun that evening.
I bet he remembers the goal. I always wondered if he did hear the shout.

GRIMES, Ashley When I was at university in Liverpool in the early 80s there was a bench in one of the lecture theatres upon which was scratched , 'ROCK AGAINST ASHLEY GRIMES'.
