Biography: Striker who stepped up infrequently from the reserves to the first team, but never scored a senior league goal for United. After a loan spell with Shrewsbury Town, Alan moved on to Peterborough United in 1979 - along with Tony Smith - scoring twice on his Posh debut. Later featuring for Kettering Town, Alan lives in his native Tyneside but sadly now suffers from spinal problems which have necessitated him using a wheelchair.

Guy, Alan I am Peterborough born and bred and don't get to watch them very often now. I don't know whether you remember me Alan. I helped behind the players bar. I came down to Kettering once when you did not play because you were injured.
