Birthplace: Failsworth, Lancashire

Position: Goalkeeper

Biography: He spent the first 12 months of his United career in the reserves until Charlie Hillam conceded 10 goals in three games. Then he got his first team chance in the 1933-1934 season when the club narrowly avoided the drop into the Division Three. He had established himself as the club's number one by the time the club won the Second Division Championship, but then surprisingly opted to remain in the second tier with Spurs than stay at Old Trafford. He was an electrician by trade and was employed by the Manchester Electrical Company.
