Position: Left-back

Biography: A local lad and fan who turned down Aston Villa to sign for Pompey. He preferred to complete his carpentry apprenticeship and earn his place at Fratton Park. When given his chance in March 1984, he made the first of many impressive displays which earned him a call up to the England Under 21 side and ultimately a £130,000 move to Sunderland. Hardyman also helped the club clinch promotion to the top flight in 1987. Bristol Rovers broke their transfer record to bring him back south but he ended his career at Barnet in 1996. He has since managed Slough Town, worked back at Fratton Park as part of the Football in the Community Team and then in the Centre of Excellence before being made redundant in 2009.
