Biography: Inside forward who clocked up over 500 league appearances for Pompey and Newport County in his sixteen year career. Freddie Cox made Harris one of his five new signings before the start of the 1958/9 season. He gave loyal service over the next decade including a period as club captain. Left the club to re-join Newport County in 1968 after almost 400 games, only to return for one more game in 1971. After his retirement in 1971 Harry ran a double glazing business in Leeds but sadly died in Magor in June 2004 aged 70.

Harris, Harry Harry is the father of my cousin Hannah. He passed away in Leeds, West Yorkshire in 2004, and he is buried in Wales. R.I.P

Harris, Harry Harry was a very decent cricketer, when he moved to Leeds he play for the legendary Kirkstall Eddies.

Harris, Harry I (with my parents and younger sister) lived right opposite Harry (and his wife Eileen and their kids Jackie, Paul and Julie) in Bedhampton, Havant when I was a kid for 10 years throughout the 1960s. Lovely guy; I remember he helped my father wallpaper my bedroom! He changed cars quite frequently; our family joke was that when the ashtrays were full, he bought a new one ! He was often visited by other Pompey players; I particularly remember the tall stringy, centre forward Ray Hiron.

Harris, Harry Harry Harris name actually Derek Henry Harris was not born November as stated he said that so he could take his driving test earlier actual birthday 26th October, he was a very kind and loving person.


Harris, Harry Playing for local Leigh Park youth team Red Rangers approx 1971. We were short of players and friend said I know someone who will play for us. We went to a house in Bedhampton, knocked on the door, and Harry Harris opened it. :) It was his son we were after. Nice man, big smile.


Harris, Harry No, he was NOT part of 'Portsmouth's back to back Championship winning sides in 1949 and 1950'. I think you're getting mixed up with Peter Harris.
