Biography: A late starter to professional football, securing a 1st class honours degree in Chemistry, Alan Ball took him to Portsmouth when they won promotion to the old 1st division. It is rumoured that when Saints signed him in 1989 Pompey refused Matt Le Tissier as part of the deal opting to take the cash, thanks Mr Deacon. Horne went on to win 59 Welsh caps scoring 2 goals. Since retirement Horne has worked in The King's School in Chester, as a chemistry and physics teacher. He is also the school's director of football. He has also been a radio and television football pundit. and also has his own column in the Liverpool echo.
