Houghton, Ken I followed hull city during the time he played for them. I played local sunday league football from 1967 until 1984 when I took up refereeing again on a sunday. Imagine my surprise when Ken Houghton turned out one day for a local team. He was of course older, and carrying a bit of weight . He was the same person he was when he was a professional . He did not argue with my decisions, spent a lot of time encouraging his younger team mates and tried to play football. Not often you get the chance to play a game of football with one of your heroes.
